Donald Trump has had a lot to say about China and trade since he returned to the White House, blowing hot and cold — as is his want — on tariff wars.

But despite all the talk among China hawks in Australia of a war between China and the US over Taiwan, the US president has been notably silent on China as a military threat. Until now.

Some of his most expansive remarks on the subject came during the media call with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese at the White House on Tuesday.
