The Department of Immigration and Citizenship Services has arrested a 47-year-old Nigerian national, Olushola Bello Rasheed, on allegations of illegal entry into Malawi.

According to National Immigration Spokesperson Pasqually Zulu, Rasheed was intercepted by immigration officers at the Kating’inda roadblock in Karonga. Although he possessed a valid passport, he lacked both a visa and an official entry stamp authorizing his stay in the country.

Zulu indicated that once investigations are complete, Rasheed will be declared a prohibited immigrant under Section 21(1) of the Immigration Act. He is expected to be deported to Nigeria via the Kasumulu border post in Tanzania.
