Election Day is rapidly approaching ― but there is still time to register to vote.

Monroe County residents have until Oct. 25 to register to vote in the Nov. 4 General Election, which will decide a number of county and municipal races. New York does not offer same-day voter registration on Election Day.

Who is eligible to vote in New York?

To qualify for voter registration in New York, you must:

Be a U.S. citizen

Be at least 18 years old (16- and 17-year-olds may pre-register, but cannot vote until they turn 18)

Be a resident of New York for at least 30 days before the election

Not be currently serving a prison sentence for a felony conviction;

Not be adjudged mentally incompetent by a court

Not claim the right to vote elsewhere
