Congress leader Jairam Ramesh on Tuesday questioned the Centre over US President Donald Trump’s repeated claims of speaking to Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the purchase of Russian oil.

Observing that Trump has reiterated his claims three times in the past five days, Ramesh said that the tally is expected to grow as Trump prepares to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin in Budapest later this week.

In a post on X, the senior Congress leader said, “The matter of India’s imports of oil from Russia has been raised by President Trump now thrice in the past five days. And no doubt he will keep increasing this tally as he prepares to meet President Putin in Budapest later in the week.”
