A new report has found a young girl who fell from a Disney cruise ship was posing next to an open porthole as her mother took a photo before she went into the water below, prompting her father to jump in after her.

A father and five-year-old girl were rescued from the water after going overboard from a Disney Dream Cruise Line ship, which had departed Florida for the Bahamas and was returning to its home port, at the end of June.

Crew members launched a rescue boat and both father and daughter were pulled to safety with only minor injuries.
