There’s been a lot of talk about the 13 players who joined N.C. State basketball and coach Will Wade in Raleigh, but what about the scholarship player who stayed?
In addition to walk-on Jordan Snell, Rockingham native Paul McNeil was a part of a group that finished with a 12-19 record in the 2024-25 season. McNeil appeared in 24 games for the Wolfpack, but played fewer than 10 minutes in 22 of those games, including seven in which he didn’t play.
So why didn’t McNeil, a 6-foot-5 sophomore guard, enter the transfer portal and find a fresh start with another program?
“I believe in the coaching staff. They have a good résumé behind ‘em, so that’s something I need,” McNeil said during the Wolfpack’s media day in September.
