A man with a disability has been stabbed in the chest during a house party gone wrong in the Adelaide suburb of Croydon Park.

Witnesses have told 9News that the attacker, armed with a knife and a bat, suddenly lost control, threatening several guests in an incident on Hudson Avenue just before 2am.

Victim Tony Fricker, who lives with a disability, says he was lucky to make it home.

"I just felt something just hit me there and I said 'you're okay' and he just stabbed into me," the 54-year-old said.

Witnesses said the altercation escalated rapidly, with the alleged assailant threatening several guests.

"He just got out of control and he had a go at a girl that was here," Fricker said.

Another witness said they "heard a fight".
