Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council's regeneration boss has quit on the eve of a major project in Nuneaton town centre. Maria Bailey was the director for place and economy at the Town Hall.

She had been at the local authority for the past three years but CoventryLive understands she left suddenly last week. As director for place and economy, she championed regeneration projects across the two towns.

She was a member of the Grayson Place Limited board, which oversees the Grayson Place development work that is currently underway in Abbey Street. Also, as part of her director role, she was also overseeing another major project in town- 'Bridge to Living'.
