The morning after Diwali, Delhi-NCR woke up to a thick smog cover, with the AQI hitting 346 at 5:30 am. Several areas recorded an AQI of over 400. The Delhi government has now put the blame on the Aam Aadmi Party-led Punjab government for the spike in the AQI. It has accused the AAP government of “forcing” farmers to burn stubble.

“The Aam Aadmi Party is deliberately forcing farmers to burn stubble in Punjab by covering their faces… Farmers don’t want to burn stubble, but they were told to do so. They’ve been forced to burn stubble by covering their faces, so that this can have an impact on Delhi ,” Delhi Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa said on Tuesday.
