STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The Department of Transportation recently installed speed humps on Forest Hill Road in New Springville in an ongoing effort to slow down drivers.

The stretch of Forest Hill Road, which already featured infrastructure designed to slow traffic, now has three speed humps — two near Richmond Hill Road and one near Platinum Avenue.

And some locals said the speed humps were a welcome addition to the very long, wide road that connects Richmond Avenue with Snake Hill, Travis Avenue and Rockland Avenue.

“This is a great thing. As soon as we saw it the other day, we said it’s the best thing they ever did,” said Sue C., a resident of New Springville who asked that her last name not be published.
