A man who stalked his ex-girlfriend by following her around Peterborough in his car has been jailed. Joaquim Tavares, 49, of Limetree Avenue, Millfield, Peterborough, began following the victim after their three-year relationship ended.

He was seen loitering near her vehicle on multiple occasions and was captured following her on CCTV and Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras. On November 5 last year, as she left a café she regularly visited, the victim saw Tavares’ car parked across the road.

She returned inside and asked a friend to keep watch as she walked to her car. As she left, she filmed the car and later told her manager she believed she was being followed.
