A woman was rushed to hospital after being attacked by a German Shepard-type dog outside her home in North Lanarkshire. ‌

Emergency crews were alerted to the incident on Old Union Street in Airdrie at around 4:50pm yesterday, Monday, October 21. ‌

The woman was taken to hospital but the extent of her injuries in unclear at this stage. ‌

A 31-year-old man, who is believed to be the dog's owner, was arrested and charged and is due to appear at Airdrie Sheriff Court at a later date.

The dog was taken away by police to be euthanised.

An image from the scene shows police tape locking down the road, with three ambulances on the street. ‌
