A man has been arrested after a Molotov cocktail was thrown at a Northeast Minneapolis ice cream shop twice in less than 24 hours.

The two incidents were reported at 10:46 p.m. Sunday and just before 1 p.m. Monday, and in both instances someone threw a flaming object at a window to Fletcher's Ice Cream & Cafe, located at 306 E. Hennepin Ave.

Officers arrived at the scene of the first attack to find a smashed window and burn marks near the front entrance.

"Preliminary information indicates that a man exited a minivan, threw a lit Molotov cocktail at the building, and then fled in the same vehicle," MPD said.

On Monday, a witness posted on Bluesky that he saw a man "acting weird next to a parked car" in front of Fletcher's as he walked by the business, then he heard a smash and smelled a
