An unnamed pedestrian was taken to the hospital after being struck by a vehicle Monday morning, Oct. 20, along Route 8 in Penn Township.

Police said the pedestrian was having a mental health episode while walking south on the right lane of Route 8. Police said the driver of a Ford F-150XLT swerved in an attempt to miss the pedestrian but struck the person with the vehicle’s side mirror.

The crash was reported at around 7 a.m.

The pedestrian was uninjured in the crash, but transported to Butler Memorial Hospital for unrelated injuries, police said.
