Navajo Council, President Buu Nygren are at odds in widening dispute

As a rift grows between the Navajo Nation Council and Navajo President Buu Nygren, tensions have escalated to the point where some council members are now calling for Nygren's resignation.

The most recent dispute erupted after Nygren tried to install an interim controller without consulting the Council. On Oct. 17, the Navajo Nation District Court issued a temporary restraining order halting any further actions related to that attempt to remove Navajo Nation Controller Sean McCabe and appoint the interim controller.
