STATEWIDE -- Mainers won’t be getting their Snap benefits in November because of the federal government shutdown.
That’s according to the Department of Health and Human Services which says more than 169 thousand people in Maine get the nutrition assistance.
At least 20 percent or more of the population in Aroostook, Piscataquis, Somerset and Washington Counties rely on it.
A statement from DHHS says the November benefits can not be issued until the Federal shutdown ends or new guidance is provided.
It says Snap benefits already loaded onto EBT Cards remain available to purchase food.
