A man has been arrested in connection with an attempted burglary where shots were fired.

On Aug. 14, the Harnett County 911 Center learned of an attempted burglary on the 21000 block of Highway 24-27 near McKoy Town Road around 10:54 p.m.

The caller said he saw several people approaching a home with weapons.

Deputies said there was an exchange of gunfire between the caller and the subjects as they tried to enter the home. Shell casings were found around the home and road.

No one at the home was hurt in the confrontation.

Tyler Jupiter, 18, was charged with attempted first-degree murder and seven counts of discharging a firearm from within an enclosure, according to warrants. He'll appear in Harnett County court on Wednesday morning.
