Steve Spurrier gave his initial thoughts on Florida football’s decision to make a coaching change, firing Billy Napier on Sunday, Oct. 19.

The former national championship winning UF head coach, spoke on “Another Dooley Noted Podcast” with Pat Dooley on Sunday, Oct. 20, to give his thoughts on Napier’s firing.

“It was sad to hear but it wasn’t a shock,” Spurrier said. “Coaches are as good as their record and unfortunately Billy’s record wasn’t all that good in four years, not just this year. Our management, AD and president and whoever thought it was time to go ahead and make a change.”
