A digger has started pulling down part of a Nuneaton town centre building. It was spotted behind fencing at the back of the old tax office and former Wilkos store at the weekend.

But today (October 21) it appears that the demolition work has started. Passers-by spotted it in action at the back of Powell House. It was back in 2019 when CoventryLive reported that Warwickshire County Council had bought the building.

This is because it sits on land where the county council plans on building a new library and office space. This is a key part of the £24.4 million 'Justice Walk' development.

It will see Powell House, the former Wilko store and Post Office sorting office bulldozed. The Black Swan in Hand pub will remain as it is not part of the regeneration scheme.
