WEBSTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Nature lovers in Webster can wander the Whiting Road Nature Preserve a little easier now thanks to a hardworking Eagle Scout.

Sixteen-year-old Nate Weston says he’s walked the trails all his life. That’s why when the ramshackle pallets covering a marshy area started rotting away—endangering his fellow trailgoers—he teamed up with the group Friends of Webster Trails to see how he could help out.

"It was muddy, there’s like a little tiny stream going underneath it, so we had to walk in and, like, down this huge hill and then when we got down there, it was like I said all broken up and stuff," Nate recalls of the scene before he got to work. "So I took all those out and I put this nice boardwalk down and made it easier for people to walk around the trails."
