Traffic and road concerns have led to the deferral of a zoning change that would pave the way for a four-storey, 47-unit apartment building in Tillsonburg.

The zoning change for 31 Earle Street would’ve allowed for a building that may address a need for housing in the area, including a small portion of affordable units, along with the possibility of rent-to-own dwellings.

Though issues were provided in a traffic impact study, several residents and councillors voiced concerns at a town council meeting on Oct. 15 about the possibility of the town being required to widen Cedar St. to accommodate residents of the building, and an increase in traffic on an already problematic intersection of Simcoe St. and Cedar St.
