A crosswalk of remembrance will be installed in Tillsonburg before Nov. 11.

The town’s council approved the installation of a painted crosswalk on 200 Broadway St. in front of the town’s cenotaph at a cost of $2,275 at a recent meeting.

On July 14, council directed staff to provide costs of installation and potential upkeep as well as Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) concerns, and any other risks associated with a painted crosswalk on a provincial highway.

“Based on that review, there have been no reported negative impacts, pedestrian incidents, or AODA-related concerns associated with its use,” said a report from Richard Sparham, manager of public works presented to council at its Oct. 14 meeting.
