PORT ARTHUR, Texas — Six years after her daughter was killed , a Port Arthur mother is still fighting for justice.
On Monday, Jermel Newman held a memorial service in honor of her daughter, Jasmine Newman, who was shot and killed in 2019 at a party in Port Arthur. Police say Jasmine was an innocent bystander caught in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Every year on the anniversary of her death, Newman gathers family and friends to remember her daughter and to keep the search for answers alive.
“You killed my child, she’s gone,” Newman said. “But I still, as a momma, I’m gonna keep on pushing till we find who did this. And I’m not gonna stop, at all. Till you turn yourself in.”
