Reaching 100-years-old is a remarkable achievement, even more so when you have survived the Battle of the Atlantic and Arctic Convoy as well as the D-Day landings.
That is the incredible story of David Roberts, who turned 100 today (Tuesday, October 21). A special party was held for the Attleborough born resident at Nuneaton Bowling Club as the centenarian's proud family raised a toast with him to mark the milestone.
He was also joined by Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council's leader, councillor Chris Watkins, who proudly presented the veteran with a special card from HM King Charles. It was during the celebration that his family proud told the guests, including the council's oldest councillor Steve Hey, about Mr Robert's journey to reaching 100-years-old.
