In 1992, campaign consultant James Carville famously gave soon-to-be-President Bill Clinton's team the admonition to focus on people's pocketbooks in the phrase, "It's the economy, stupid."

That's no longer the case, apparently.

A new Michigan poll, commissioned by the Detroit Regional Chamber and conducted by Glengariff Group of Lansing, indicated that 76% of registered voters in the state surveyed say they're paying more for groceries, with 68% paying more for utilities and 60% paying more for car and home insurance this year over last.
