JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) - The man accused of causing a crash that killed a mother and daughter in Hinds County appeared in court on October 21, 2025.

During his court appearance, Antyon Gray, 62, was appointed a public defender and was denied bond.

The crash occurred on Raymond Road near Robinson Road Ext. on October 18, 2025.

Byram police said there was a theft at the Dollar General in Terry. They said an officer spotted Gray in a gold Ford Explorer and attempted a traffic stop, but the suspect fled.

According to police, the suspect’s vehicle collided with a gray Nissan Altima around 10:30 a.m. They said the driver and the passenger of the Altima were killed. The victims were identified as Shali Davenport, 48, and her mother, Debra Washington, 66.
