After a scary injury situation in Clemson's loss to SMU, we have a positive health update on star receiver Bryant Wesco. However, Wesco is still set to miss the remainder of the season.

Wesco suffered what coach Dabo Swinney called a "very serious" back injury during a punt return on Saturday. He landed on his head after an awkward hit, and though he was able to walk off the field on his own power, he was later taken to the hospital. During a teleconference on Monday, Swinney said the prognosis on Wesco is encouraging, though he will not be able to return to the field this fall.

"It was a very, very scary injury, and the doctors did an amazing job," Swinney said, per ESPN's Andrea Adelson. "The doctors are very confident he'll make a full recovery. Definitely something that'll keep him out the rest of this season, but thankful that all indications are he's going to be OK. Just a real blessing for that."

Fortunately, Wesco avoided a major long-term injury, but it's a major loss for the Tigers amid a rough start to the season. Clemson is 3-4 on the year, and now, it's without its leading receiver the rest of the way and will have to lean on TJ Moore, Antonio Williams, Tyler Brown and Tristan Smith in his absence.

Wesco is currently pacing the team in catches (31), receiving yards (537) and receiving touchdowns (6).
