A bag full of cocaine and cash was recovered after a man fled from officers, Chatham-Kent police say.

Officers tried to speak to two men interacting in a parking lot about 8:15 p.m. Oct. 15, police said. One fled with a bag, which he tried to discard during a brief foot chase.

Officers recovered the bag and found 349 grams of cocaine, with an estimated street value of $35,000, a digital scale and a large sum of cash inside, police said.

A suspect was arrested, police said. Investigation later revealed he was bound by a release order with multiple conditions, police said.

A Chatham man, 19, is charged with possessing drugs for trafficking and three counts of failing to comply with a release order, police said. He was held pending a bail hearing.
