Homicide detectives have arrested a Barstow man in connection with the death of his 2-year-old son, who was swept away by floodwaters amid a massive storm in September, authorities announced Tuesday, Oct. 21.
Brandon Padilla-Aguilera, 26, was booked on suspicion of murder after being taken into custody Friday, Oct. 17, at his home, according to Barstow Police Department officials and San Bernardino County jail records.
The arrest stems from the death of toddler Xavier Padilla-Aguilera , who was found dead after being swept away by floodwaters on Sept. 18. Investigators did not disclose what led them to determine the death was criminal.
The father and son were riding in a car that became overcome by flooding in the 24000 block of West Main Street, officials said at the time.
