BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – A Peoria teenager has been arrested after allegedly crashing a vehicle following a retail theft in Bloomington.

Bloomington Police says officers responded Monday night just after 7:15 P.M. to a retail theft in progress on Empire Street, between Veterans and Service Drives, with multiple suspects fleeing in a vehicle after reportedly stealing merchandise.

Police say a traffic stop was attempted after the suspect vehicle turned westbound on E. Empire, but the driver refused to stop and fled recklessly from the area.

The vehicle reportedly weaved around other vehicles, before running a red light and crashing into a southbound vehicle at Empire and Clinton. The driver of the southbound vehicle was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, but listed in s
