COLUMBIA, S.C. — Columbia Metropolitan Airport (CAE) says it has reached a major milestone in its ongoing checkpoint expansion project, with the completion of Phase One now open to passengers.

The first phase includes an upgraded exit route featuring automatic double doors, designed to enhance security and streamline passenger flow.

In addition, travelers can now enjoy several new amenity rooms beyond the security checkpoint — including a business center, interfaith and meditation room, and sensory room — all aimed at improving comfort and accessibility.

“We are so pleased with how the first phase of this multi-phase project turned out and look forward to welcoming our passengers into these spaces while they are in the airport,” said Interim President & CEO/CFO Gregg Hornsby.
