BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - The handler of the Maine comfort dog who died in a hot car earlier this year has resigned.
A spokesperson for the Maine Department of Public Safety confirmed Brodie Hinckley resigned Oct. 3.
Baxter, the 3-year-old chocolate lab, was found inside a state vehicle at the Bangor Regional Communications Center in late May.
Hinckley was issued a summons for a civil violation of animal cruelty in September for the death of Baxter.
The Department of Public Safety says they are declining to comment further because it is a personnel matter.
