A longtime Pleasant Hill icon, unofficially known as the Hospice Tree of Lights, came down late Monday night when the heritage oak tree along Gregory Lane near the park fell. Residents nearby described the sound as a thunderous crash, like a transformer exploding. Power briefly went out in the area, and police issued a text alert about the road closure. By morning, several community members gathered at the site, expressing sadness and disbelief over the loss of the beloved tree. Thank you so much to Lisa Chambers for sharing the information with us.
