LAGRANGE COUNTY, Ind. (WPTA) - A spokesperson for the Indiana State Police (ISP) says an Elkhart man is facing charges in an OWI crash over the weekend that left a 73-year-old man dead.

ISP Public Information Officer Sgt. Wes Rowlader says police responded to the crash around 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 18, on County Road 1000 West, near State Road 120 in rural LaGrange County.

Rowlader says 26-year-old Juan Diaz Perez was headed north on County Road 1000 when he struck a southbound pickup truck head-on.

The driver of the truck, 73-year-old James Eash of Shipshewana, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Perez was injured as well, and after being released from an area hospital, Rowlader says he was taken to the LaGrange County Jail and booked on three charges.
