As city councilors continue deliberations about a St. Stephens Road nightclub associated with dozens of criminal cases in recent years, Mobile Mayor Sandy Stimpson said a decision should be made quickly to avoid putting the public and police in danger.

The Mobile City Council decided Tuesday to lay over for one week an agenda item to declare Phat Tuesday Sports Bar, LLC a public nuisance, and suspend, revoke or decline to renew its business license. Documents included with the council’s agenda last week said Mobile police have investigated cases of shootings, disorderly conduct, drug activity and gambling at Phat Tuesday since 2022, and responded to more than 200 calls during the past three years.
