CARLISLE, Ky. — Kentucky State Police is investigating after two people were seriously injured in a hit-and-run Sunday evening involving an Amish buggy in Carlisle.

At about 11:53 p.m., Nicholas County Sheriff's Office reached out to KSP in reference to the serious collision. Troopers and a collision reconstructionist responded to the scene on Concrete Road (KY 36), according to a KSP news release.

Investigators believe a person driving a 2008 Silver Dodge Ram pickup truck struck the buggy from behind and fled the scene.

One of the passengers in the buggy suffered serious injuries and was transported to UK Hospital, authorities said. The other passenger suffered fractures to both legs and was treated and released.
