The remains of a Centre County man who was the subject of a Missing Endangered Person Advisory last December have been located on his property, and no foul play is suspected in his death, authorities announced on Tuesday, Oct. 21.

Leon Bowman, 78, was found dead on Sept. 9, 2025 on his Curtin Township property, Centre County Coroner Scott Sayers said. Bowman, who was 77 when first reported missing, was identified through dental records and an anthropological analysis, Sayers noted in a release.

Bowman had last been seen near his mailbox on Howard Divide Road in the wooded township on Dec. 23, 2024. At the time, state police believed he may have been confused and at “special risk of harm or injury.”

An autopsy was conducted and the cause of death was ruled undetermined but not suspicious, according to Sayers. He did not immediately respond to requests for comment regarding where on the property Bowman was found or by whom.

The Pennsylvania State Police are continuing to investigate.
