MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) -- A Carolina Forest resident accused of starting a backyard fire pit that authorities said ignited a 2,049-acre blaze last spring is set for trial.

Alexandra Bialousow, 40, is charged with negligently allowing the fire to spread March 6, six days after it began. She was released from jail the next day after posting a $15,000 bond.

Court records show she's set to appear Wednesday morning at Horry County Central Jury Court in Myrtle Beach.

The South Carolina Forestry Commission said Bialousow failed to take the proper precautions to prevent her debris burn from escaping and negligently allowed fire to spread. Witnesses also reported seeing Bialousow start a fire in a backyard fire pit that was in close proximity to a tree line within the Covington Lakes subdivis
