NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A portion of Interstate 40 remains blocked after a tractor-trailer hauling more than 20,000 pounds of paper overturned Tuesday afternoon in Davidson County.

According to the Tennessee Department of Transportation's Smartway Map, the crash happened shortly after 2:30 p.m. near mile marker 200 in the eastbound lanes of I-40.

A spokesperson for TDOT said the trailer was hauling 28,000 pounds of paper when the crash occurred.

As of 4 p.m., two of three lanes remain blocked on I-40 as crews work to clear the scene. It remains unclear if any injuries were reported, or when the interstate is expected to fully reopen.
