Britney Spears says she suffered “brain damage” years ago because “people are incredibly cruel” just as a book by ex-husband Kevin Federline hits store shelves alleging details of her troubling behaviour as a young mother.

In a lengthy Instagram post shared on Sunday, the pop star also said she is grateful to be alive and included a photo of her riding a horse and wearing white shorts and a black cowboy hat with her back exposed.

“I had a traumatic experience as some of you know at the end of my book where for 4 months I no longer had my private door and illegally was forced to not use my feet or body to go anywhere,” the singer wrote, referencing her memoir “ ” published two years ago.
