The Peacemaker Season 2 finale had many fans thinking James Gunn was setting up Darkseid in the DCU, given that in the comics, the planet Salvation is a testing ground for Darkseid's Parademon forces. However, this may not be the case according to James Gunn. Darkseid is often considered the greatest evil in DC Comics and has been treated as the big "final" villain in numerous projects from Justice League Unlimited to the recently released DC K.O. comic event, and he was the big bad Zack Snyder was building up to in his DCEU plans.The latter appearance is partly why Gunn is throwing some cold water on fan expectations of seeing Darkseid returning in the foreseeable future.
