WEST HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) - Work on the first roundabout in West Hartford wrapped up about a week ago, but its design has already sparked frustration.

The roundabout sits at the intersection of Old Meadow Road and King Phillip Drive.

Some drivers called it useless. They said it’s so flat, they don’t even see it until they’ve driven through it.

However, town engineer Gregory Summer said there’s a reason why it’s so low to the ground. He also said it boosts safety and assists traffic flow.

“Every 20 minutes, every 10 minutes, pretty much every car, one out of every five or 10 cars [drive right through it],” said Ashu Ahuja of West Hartford.

Ahuja said he lives up the street from the roundabout.
