MICHIGAN, USA — The death of a ten-year-old girl over the weekend is highlighting the potential dangers of all-terrain vehicles.
Peyton Mackenzie Burkhart from Grand Haven was killed after she was pinned under the ATV she was driving with a 14-year-old in the the passenger seat.
Experts like Chandler Wright, who works at Platinum Powersports in Rockford said with the right training and gear, most ATV accidents are preventable.
“The biggest thing is just having goggles, a good helmet, you know, protecting your head because we only get one,” said Wright.
Wright is reminding families that safety starts at home. He said parents play a critical role in keeping young riders safe.
