While West Linn and Lake Oswego bore so much of the spotlight last week, Central Catholic continued rolling along since its Week 2 loss to the Lakers. The Rams defeated Barlow 51-0 on Friday to move to 6-1 and 3-0 in Mt. Hood Conference play ahead of this week’s showdown at Nelson that will decide the conference title.
The Rams have been in this position many times over the years — they play a couple of high-profile nonleague games, but once they enter MHC play, they fade from the picture except for the one matchup that determines the conference champion, which they’ve won the past five seasons (including 39 consecutive wins over MHC opponents) and 14 of the past 16.
