It’s never a bad thing for a golfer to have their name spoken in the same breath as Arnold Palmer.

Carson Kittsley is about to find that out.

Kittsley capped off a brilliant 6-under 66 round and avoided a playoff when he snaked home a birdie putt on the final hole to give him a one-shot victory over Latrobe senior Jack Sacriponte in the final round of the PIAA Class 3A boys golf championship. The Fox Chapel junior finished the two-day event with an 8-under 136, with Sacriponte at 7-under 137.

Kittsley is only the third WPIAL golfer since the event was first held in 1935 to win consecutive state titles. Palmer was the first when he pulled it off in 1946 and 1947 before heading off to Georgia Tech and, eventually, the World Golf Hall of Fame. Knoch alumnus Jeff Dickson did it in 1991 a
