TANGIPAHOA PARISH, La. — A man accused of rape who had been evading arrest was taken into custody Tuesday, the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies say 34-year-old Carlos Pacheco allegedly sexually abused two teenagers and changed his address multiple times to avoid being arrested.

After asking the public to be on the lookout for a man accused of rape, the sheriff's office arrested Pacheco around 4 p.m. at a job site with the help form St. Tammany Parish's Proactive Enforcement Unit.

According to TPSO, he was known to work in construction and landscaping.

Pacheco was wanted for multiple crimes against at least two teenagers, including sexual battery, first-degree rape of a victim under 13, aggravated crimes against nature, and molestation of a Juvenile.
