The City of Houston has officially launched its Multi-Family Recycling (MFR) Pilot Program , a major step toward ensuring all residents have access to recycling services. The program aims to reduce waste, divert materials from landfills, and save taxpayer dollars over the long term.
Council Member Abbie Kamin , in partnership with Houston’s Solid Waste Management Department (SWMD) , is spearheading the effort to expand recycling options for residents in multi-family housing. More than half of Houston’s population now lives in apartments or condos, yet many of these properties have lacked convenient recycling options.
