BECKLEY, W.Va. (WSAZ) - “If you are in our country illegally, if you are in West Virginia, if you are breaking our laws, we are going to arrest you. Period. Full Stop,” Gov. Patrick Morrisey said.
The governor announced, that under his direction with State Police, Immigrations and Customs Enforcement Officers, 60 undocumented immigrants in the state of West Virginia were arrested in the past month.
Eighteen arrests were made this past Saturday.
On Saturday, members of the West Virginia State Police, Turnpike Police, The West Virginia Public Service Commission, ICE, and the DEA were all staged along Interstate 77 to control Bridge Day traffic.
Morrisey said those patrols led to half of the arrests.
