A Central Massachusetts man’s summer crime spree has come to an end after police said he racked up nearly 30 new criminal charges over five months.

Gavin Barszcz, 30, of Webster, is accused of starting a run of crimes in April, when officers caught him breaking into two vehicles overnight, police said. Officers found stolen keys and cash in his pockets. He was charged with two counts of breaking and entering, three counts of receiving stolen property, possession of burglary tools, and trespassing, authorities said.

Weeks later, Webster Officer Nicholas Trinque took a report from a woman who said her motorcycle had been stolen from Prospect Street. Police said witnesses led them to a lot on Wall Street, where they found the bike with its engine drilled out and wires cut. Barszcz was found nearby and “admitted to stealing it with his mother, in an attempt to sell the motorcycle for money for drugs.” He was charged with larceny of a motor vehicle, vandalism of property, and conspiracy, police said.

Through the summer, officers said they saw Barszcz riding several motorcycles believed to be stolen. Each time police tried to stop him, “he fled from officers at high rates of speed.” Investigators also said he had pointed a handgun at someone while riding. He was charged with multiple traffic and reckless driving offenses, authorities added.

In September, officers were called to Wall Street for a report of an assault. Police said Barszcz threw a glass that struck a woman and slapped her. He was charged with assault and battery on a household member and assault with a dangerous weapon.

A day later, detectives searched two apartments tied to Barszcz. Investigators said they learned he was involved in a Dudley home invasion where two masked men stole about $250,000 from an 85-year-old woman.

Police said Barszcz stole up to $100,000 and spent it on luxury cars, motorcycles, watches, shoes, drugs, and tattoos. Officers seized several vehicles and motorcycles, authorities said.

Barszcz was charged with felony receiving stolen property, conspiracy, and accessory after the fact. He is being held at the Worcester County House of Correction, authorities said.
