LIBERTY, Ky. – One person is dead after a vehicle reportedly struck a horse-drawn wagon in Casey County.

The Kentucky State Police says troopers responded Tuesday at about 6:24 a.m. to a two-vehicle injury collision on U.S. 127 near the intersection with Kentucky 501 in Casey County.

Authorities say a preliminary investigation determined 20-year-old John Gingerich of Liberty was traveling north on U.S. 127 in a horse-drawn wagon. The wagon was not equipped with rear-facing lights or a slow-moving vehicle reflective placard, according to KSP.

Troopers say a Kia Sedona driven by 33-year-old Jacob Goodman of Columbia was also going north on U.S. 127 when he did not see the wagon and struck the back of it.
